Originating in the 17th century from the Indian city of Madras (now Chennai), madras fabric is known for its vibrant checks and lightweight texture, making it a staple in warm-weather wardrobes. Traditionally handwoven with irregularities that add character, each piece of this kaftan carries the legacy of centuries-old textile craftsmanship. By using deadstock fabric, this kaftan not only honors the history of madras but also embraces our more conscious approach: slow-fashion.
